The Tap Legacy Foundation, Inc., was founded by Gregory Hines and Andrew J. Nemr for one purpose: to build a home in New York City, dedicated to tap dance. This home will facilitate the preservation, related exploration, and promotion of tap dance's rich history, support the present needs of the art, and help advance the form by being a champion for its relevance, unique nature, and special contributions to the popular culture of the past 150 years.

The One In A Million campaign will bring together all those who have ever put on a pair of shoes or enjoyed a tap dance performance to help make this dream a reality. One million fans, practitioners, enthusiasts, professionals, audience members, historians, researchers, and presenters, will step forward to say to the world, in one collective voice: Tap Dance will have its own home.
