New York City has long been considered the heart of tap dance. Yet even in this nexus, one cannot find an inclusive and sustainable space dedicated to the art form. The Tap Legacy Center will be that space.
A living space built to ensure the sustainability and continued promotion of this undeniably American art form, the Tap Legacy Center will be home to all Tap Legacy programming and serve as a focal point to the Tap Dance Community at large. The center will feature performance and rehearsal space, rotating and permanent exhibits, and the most comprehensive digital archive dedicated to tap dance. All within a single living, breathing space.
Visitors will have an opportunity to experience the full scope and breadth of the art form in all its styles as presented by all its practitioners, while the presently thriving community of tap dancers will finally have a place to truly call home.
