Tap dance information is relatively difficult to come by. Many good books on the subject are out of print, and much of the information is scattered over numerous sources.
A book about jazz singer Jimmy Scott makes mention of Ground Hog, or a publication about Charles Mingus’ life mentions Baby Laurence. The question becomes, where does one go to find specific and reliable information that is presented in an understandable and ultimately useful fashion?
Tap Legacy Publications produces print and online resources for the tap dance enthusiast. Our first publication, the Tap Legacy Reference Catalog provided the only printed reference guide that listed tap dancers and the films, recordings, and videos that they may be found in.
As the focus of information dissemination has shifted from the printed to the digital, so too has Tap Legacy Publications shifted focus. Although always concerned with providing the highest level of accessibility we have recently increased our efforts to provide more information electronically. These efforts include Tap Legacy Online Resources such as the Tap Legacy Monthly Newsletter, the Tap Dance Calendar, and the Tribute Websites.
