Since the beginning of tap dance’s popular resurgence in the 1970s much has been made about the state of the art form in popular media. There have been numerous theater shows, a number of films, and some touring musical acts that incorporate tap dancers. All of these are beneficial for the exposure of the form, however a challenge still remains. During the loss of tap dance’s popularity not only was work hard to come by, but a gap in the oral history developed. Now with the resurgence well underway it is imperative that the oral history is reignited. Where do you go to take part in events that are designed to help reignite the oral history tradition that is a key attribute of the art of tap dance?
Tap Legacy Presents is focused on designing, presenting, and supporting events that help reignite the oral history of tap dance. Whether it’s the reconstructing of signature pieces, the placement of tribute plaques, or the presentation of memorial and birthday celebrations and anniversaries, Tap Legacy Presents events that bring generations together to experience, reflect, share and enjoy the art of tap dance.
